The Eddie Dixon Career and Technical Education Center’s Educator Preparation students shared “The Gift of Reading” to K - 4th grade students at Galena. For their annual service project, they, along with Student Services, chose to host a book drive, which enabled them to receive enough books to give to students. Instructor Sally Mitchell stated, “As future educators, the students understand that joy can be found in reading; however, research shows that there is an insufficient number of books available at home for early readers. As a result, my students wanted to focus on helping elementary-aged children foster a love of reading not only at school but also home.
Year two students include Jasmine Coleman-Hardin, Skylar Garrison, Tilisa Hampton, Sharahneshia Jones, Keonia Ketchum, Mariah Lewis, Paris Owens, Kennedy Virgil, and Antione Watson.
